Five minutes prior to the commencement of school and at the end of both recess’ there is a bell followed by music – this informs the students that they have 5 minutes to make their way back to class, go to the toilet and get a drink. Students must be at their classrooms (lined up) by the time the final bell rings.
There is a member of the teaching staff who is the Bus Coordinator and liaises with parents, students and the bus company to facilitate the smooth running of the service.
Every parent and child travelling on the bus must read and sign a bus code prior to commencement of using the service.
Following are things that make bus travel much easier:
· Have your child at the bus stop on time in the morning.
· Encourage your child to go directly to the meeting point (hall atrium) after school.
· If there are any changes to travel arrangements please notify the school in writing or contact the bus coordinator.
· Inform the school if your child is absent and ask for the bus coordinator to be told.
· Sometimes a child wishes to take a friend home with them on the bus. The bus company is under no obligation to carry the additional passenger. The bus company has however always assisted in these circumstances. For a child to take a friend home notes stating the travel arrangements must be sent by both the parent of the usual bus traveller and the parent of the visiting student. The notes should be given to the bus coordinator at least one day prior to travelling.
– If a student is absent from school for any reason the school must be notified. Either by informing the office or an absence note to the students teacher.
Absences are recorded.
– If a student is late arriving at school they must report to the office and a late pass will be issued to the child. Lateness’ are recorded and if a student is late more than three times in the one term a note will be sent home to the parents.
A child constantly arriving late to school means that they are missing out on very important learning time.
– Students must be signed out by the parent or guardian collecting them. The sign out book is located at the office.
– Classroom teachers do not handle money. All monies are to be taken to the office and posted in the ‘red letterbox’. Money must be in a sealed envelope with the student’s name, class and what the money is for clearly written on it.
Receipts will be issued and given to classroom teachers to hand out to the students.
– school banking is organised through the parent club. Every Tuesday banking XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
– Each atrium has a lost property box. All property which is found around the school is placed in these boxes. It is the responsibility of students and parents to check these boxes if the are missing any property.
At the end of each term lost property is displayed in the school gym for all classes to look at. Any property named is returned to the student.
– Sun smart hats are to be worn by all students during terms 1 and 4. Sun smart hats are those which cover the ears, neck and nose – baseball caps are not Sun Smart hats. Students who are seen out in the school grounds during recess without a sun smart hat are sent to an under-covered area and given a notice to take home informing the parents that their child did not have the appropriate sun smart attire. These notices are to be signed by parents and returned to school the following the day. Students without sun smart hats are also not allowed to play any outdoor sports.
No Hat, No Play
