Wellbeing at Romsey Primary School
At Romsey Primary School, the hallmark of a safe and supportive school is a strong commitment to whole-school wellbeing. We believe that students learn best when they feel safe, valued, connected and understood.
Wellbeing is embedded in everything we do — in our classrooms, our playgrounds and our relationships. Through a range of evidence-based programs and proactive supports, we create an environment where every child can thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
Our whole-school wellbeing approach includes:
Mental Health in Primary Schools (MHiPS)
Developed by paediatricians, educators, psychologists, researchers and teachers, this Victorian Government initiative strengthens schools’ capacity to support student mental health. Through MHiPS, experienced teachers are upskilled as Mental Health and Wellbeing Leaders, helping build staff capability and providing a coordinated, proactive approach to mental health across the school.
School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS)
An evidence-based framework that helps create safe, positive and inclusive learning environments where students and staff can thrive. SWPBS promotes consistent expectations, positive behaviour and a strong sense of belonging.
Kimochis
A social-emotional learning program that supports students to understand and manage emotions, develop empathy, and communicate their feelings effectively.
The Resilience Project (TRP)
A program that delivers emotionally engaging learning experiences and provides practical, evidence-based strategies to build resilience, gratitude and emotional literacy.
Respectful Relationships (RRRR)
A curriculum program that promotes respect, positive relationships and equality, helping students develop healthy social behaviours.
Berry Street Education Model
An approach that supports students’ emotional regulation, engagement and wellbeing through trauma-informed practice.
Inform & Empower (Cybersafety)
A program that equips students with the knowledge and skills to navigate the online world safely and responsibly.
“At our school, teachers help us talk about our feelings and solve problems together. It makes me feel safe and happy to learn.” — Year 4 Student
Through these initiatives, we work in partnership with families to nurture confident, capable and resilient learners.
